In AP Computer Science students will learn how to write their own software using the Java programming language. In each programming lab assignment, students will use critical thinking skills to write the Java code necessary to solve a problem. Students do not need previous knowledge of programming, but they do need a solid foundation in math and strong logic skills.
The AP Computer Science exam is offered in May. The exam is on paper! We will spend a lot of time in class practicing writing code on paper.
In conjunction with the Java JDK, this course uses the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) JCreator to write and execute our programs. Both the Java JDK and JCreator are free downloads. JCreator is PC only. You may use Dr. Java if you have a Mac.
